  • Level II Ambassador Training

    Volunteeres share Foodshare's message with public groups like schools, companies, community organizations, and places of worship. Speakers are needed throughout the year, but there is generally greater demand around the holidays, during the United Way Campaign in the Fall, and leadin gup to the Annual Walk Against Hunger in the Spring.   • Hartford Harley Owners Group (HOG) Turkey Run

    The 20th annual event is dubbed the "Freedom From Hunger Ride" and seeks to assist families who need extra help putting a traditional holiday meal on the table. Frozen turkeys and monetary donations are welcome. the HOG Run is the first of many Turkey and Thirty drives held from October to a few days before Thanksgiving. Riders will meet at Gengras Harley Davidson in East Hartford at 10:00 a.m., with an anticipated arrival time of 11:30 a.m. at Foodshare.

  • The 17th Annual Foodshare Empty Bowls Project

    Empty Bowls is an international grassroots effort to fight hunger. Potters and other craftspeople work with the community to create handcrafted bowls and guests are invited to a simple meal of soup and bread. In exchange for a cash donation, guests will get to keep the handcrafted bowl as a reminder of all the empty bowls in the world. Empty Bowls will be held at the Manchester Community College Culinary Arts Center.

  • SNAP Volunteer Training

    Foodshare has an immediate need for SNAP Outreach Volunteers throughout Hartford and Tolland Counties. Volunteers are trained to determine eligibility for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program SNAP), and provide application assistance to those who qualify.
